FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TORONTO — July 15, 2010
- The pressure is on: king of the kitchen Chef Corbin Tomaszeski and Britain’s style and etiquette queen Anthea Turner are coming to dinner, and they’re here to judge. On Wednesday, September 1 at 9pm ET/10 pm PT, Food Network Canada’s new Canadian original series, Dinner Party Wars, pits larger than life couples in a cutthroat dinner party competition that challenges their every ability to cook and host like a pro. From setting the menu and the table, to the cooking, conversation, and all the kitchen crises, surveillance cameras capture every detail. As the battle rages on inside, expert judges Chef Corbin and Anthea watch all the action and sample every dish in their curbside studio to determine the winning duo.

From vegans and meat-lovers to parents-on-the-go and clumsy newlyweds, Dinner Party Wars introduces viewers to dinner party hosting aspirants from all walks of life. We’ll see spats and concessions, works of art and works of misfortune, and when it comes to living up to the title of host with the most, only one couple will have what it takes to impress their spying expert panel.

Each episode features three couples participating in a three-night dining experience where they will each get the chance to outperform one another. As the dinner party smackdown sizzles up inside, Chef Corbin and Anthea will watch the hosts’ every move offering viewers an expert’s view on what’s working and what most certainly is not.

Being a great cook is key but for dinner party combatants, victory hinges on more than just serving up delectable dishes. “What people don’t get is that an ill-planned seating arrangement or even a bad fashion accessory can throw an entire dinner party into shambles,” says Anthea Turner, Co-host of Dinner Party Wars. “There’s so much more to a dinner party than just the food!”

“Absolutely,” agrees Chef Corbin Tomaszeski. “Just like in a restaurant setting, service and ambience count for so much. It’s not enough to put a delicious rack of lamb in front of your dinner guest; you have to present it to them as part of their overall dining experience.”

Armed with years of culinary and party-planning experience, critical acclaim from industry experts, and razor-sharp wit, Chef Corbin and hosting guru Anthea offer up entertaining and etiquette tips with a generous side of learning and laughs. In each episode they share cooking tips and techniques as well as accessible, inspiring hosting advice to suit all home entertaining scenarios from romantic first dates to large family affairs.

Foodnetwork.ca will feature a Dinner Party Wars show page including streaming of episodes after broadcast airing and exclusive content consisting of: interviews with Chef Corbin and eitquette guru Anthea Turner, dining and entertaining etiquette tips from Anthea Turner and favourite recipes from the homeowners in the series.
